Summer cold blues
Not that there's ever a good time to catch a cold, but when the weather's beautiful, the trails are all clearing off, and you just want to be out there, getting a cold that turns to a cough and takes you off the trail for a couple weeks just bites. Fortunately, the suck lifted last weekend and I managed to zip out a quick summit of Bergen Peak. I was tight on time, so needed to keep it to a straight up, straight down affair. I was definitely in the mood for speed and did the round trip of 1800' in 2:36:32, for 9.22 miles and an average pace of 16:59. That meant a very near personal best ascent with some running on the decent.
